John Ogbeta

(b. 1971) has a style of art that separates him from his peers. His expressive and decorative design elevates the normative way in which painting is usually represented. His unique use of several elements ranging from jute ropes, colored textures and collages made from processed plastic bags, which usually results heavy large eyed, oval shaped face and carefully woven braids with elongated noses. This creatively impressive representation distinguishes him from the rest.

Ogebeta is a scholar in the arts and graduated from the prestigious Federal Polytechnic Auchi with a Higher National Diploma in painting and OND in General Arts in 1998. He has participated in several major exhibitions including the 14th annual exhibition of Nigeria Art and Craft 2005, the Harvest 2006, Strings of love 2007, Art on the Mainland 2008.

His works are on display in several famous and historic galleries in Nigeria several private collections for the elite. He currently lives and works in Lagos.
