(b. 1971, Benin City, Nigeria) is a self-trained artist. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 1995. Segun has done several solo and group exhibitions, this includes: Translation – Signature Gallery, Lagos – 2002, Epiphany – Signature Gallery, Lagos – 2010, Unspoken Words – Terra kulture, lagos – 2011, Florence Biennale, Firenze, Italy – 2009, The Unbreakable spirit of Nigeria – Gallerie 23 Amsterdam, Holland – 2008, Reflex – Sandton Convention & Exhibition centre, Johannesburg, South Africa – 2004, 48 Hours with the Children of the Turtle – EspaceAlberica, Paris – 2004 among others. His style is distinct, the texture of the canvas and the greyish hues of the skin of his subjects are what signify his own individual creativity.
Segun’s fascination with nature and colours started quite early. He recalls himself fiddling with drawings and paints as early as four years old. As a young boy, his favourite hobby was collecting comics and trying to draw the characters.
